With S3 Native File Streaming, Suite operates natively on object storage, reading and writing files as standard S3 objects. The platform serves as a streaming and access layer that sits on top of existing workflows, enabling global collaboration at scale without requiring data migration, duplication, or re-ingestion.
Suite Studios' file streaming technology allows teams to access and work instantly on massive project files by streaming only the data they need, when they need it, without full downloads. This approach dramatically reduces startup times, local storage demands, and collaboration friction across large, complex productions, while ensuring everyone works from the latest version of an asset. Unlike traditional file sync, which mirrors entire files locally, Suite is purpose-built for speed, efficiency, and scale in modern creative workflows.
Teams with existing, hydrated S3 buckets can enable Suite immediately, without moving data or disrupting workflows. Media stored in object storage becomes accessible through Suite, and mounts on the desktop as an ordinary drive in Finder or File Explorer.
Because Suite writes whole standard objects, the data in the bucket stays in a non-proprietary format. Directory structure and filenames match between Suite and the bucket, and files remain readable by any S3 compatible application or service—before, during, and after Suite is in use.
Suite's S3 Native File Streaming works alongside existing Media Asset Management (MAM), Digital Asset Management (DAM), render, and archive systems, without gateways, proxies, or proprietary translation layers. Because those tools connect directly to the underlying bucket over the standard S3 API, they do not depend on a client machine, a mounted drive, or middleware staying online.
“Many creative teams are already utilizing object storage as a safe, scalable space to store data. Until now, accessing those files and working on them collaboratively meant migrating data and maintaining two copies of those files,” said Craig Hering, Co-Founder and CEO of Suite Studios. “S3 Native File Streaming removes that step. Teams can point Suite at the object storage they already own and start working on the same objects the rest of their pipeline is using in a matter of minutes.”
Key Benefits for Customers:
- Enable Instantly with No Migration: Teams work directly on existing data in S3 compatible storage with no migration, duplication, syncing, or re-ingestion.
- Single Source of Truth: Maintain consistent access and eliminate version sprawl by working on standard objects in customer-owned S3 compatible storage.
- Real-time Performance: Byte-range file streaming delivers predictable and reliable access across network conditions, from anywhere in the world, with local-disk-like performance.
- Enterprise Ready by Design: Suite fits into existing pipelines and governance models, allowing IT and security teams to maintain full ownership and control of storage, Identity Access Management, security policies, logging, and lifecycle management.
“Suite’s S3 Native is a game-changer in the media supply chain space. It combines the best of an on-premise filesystem and S3 object storage, by allowing end users the ability to interact with their media content just as they would any other local files, while also being able to leverage the power of cloud computing for scalable rendering, AI inference, and global file delivery.” said Jeff Yaroslow, VP of Technical Operations at Integrated Media Technologies. “Instead of devising transfer workflows to copy or migrate data from on-prem to the cloud, customers get the benefits of both at the same time. We are looking forward to designing new workflows and automations that were simply not possible until now.”
Availability and Pricing
Suite's S3 Native File Streaming is generally available today. At general availability the platform supports Amazon S3 and Backblaze B2, with additional S3 compatible platforms including Azure, Google Cloud, Wasabi, and on-premises object storage to follow. Pricing starts at $40/TB, with volume-based pricing available at petabyte scale. For more information, visit: https://suitestudios.io/s3-native
