Walnut Creek, California - April 29, 2026 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

SOS4Students, the Bay Area's longest-running executive function coaching practice, has opened registration for its 2026 summer student workshop series at Orinda Academy. The workshops, running from August 1 through September 19, give students entering grades 6 through 12 the process skills that turn missing assignments and homework battles into independent academic work. The summer schedule is timed to give students a structured introduction to these skills before the new academic year begins, with hands-on practice at the Orinda Academy campus.

For more than 30 years, SOS4Students has specialized in teaching students how to learn, not just what to learn. The workshops focus on planning, organization, time management, task initiation, and note taking, the executive function skills that predict academic success across every subject and every grade level.

"We have been process coaches, not content tutors, for three decades," said Beth Samuelson, founder and director of SOS4Students. "A summer workshop gives students a running start on the skills the school year will demand of them. Parents tell us consistently that the difference shows up in September, not in June."

All workshops are held in person at Orinda Academy, 19 Altarinda Rd, Orinda, CA 94563. Each workshop is capped at 12 students to keep instruction personal. Each session is designed to give students structured practice with the skills they will rely on throughout the school year.

The series opens the weekend of August 1 and 2 with two grade-specific intensives. Mastering Middle School serves students entering 6th grade and includes a follow-up session and parent webinar. Nailing Ninth Grade serves students entering 9th grade and includes a follow-up session, parent webinar, and finals prep.

On Saturday, August 29, two half-day intensives run in parallel. Middle School Booster, for grades 7 and 8, covers academic planning, self-advocacy, note taking, time management, and managing digital distractions. Executive Brain Bootcamp, for grades 10 through 12, teaches high school students how to jumpstart complex tasks, prioritize work, decipher multi-step directions, and organize their work on and offline.

The series closes Saturday, September 19 with two note-taking workshops. Take Note: Introduction to Note Taking, for grades 7 and 8, builds the foundational skill that carries students through high school, college, and career. Secrets of Successful Note Taking, for grades 10 through 12, teaches best practices for textbooks, lectures, and videos, plus how to use notes for studying and test preparation.

Families who register by April 30, 2026 qualify for Early Bird pricing. After that date, standard rates apply. Bundle discounts are also available, with 10% off for any two workshops and 15% off for three or more. Several pre-made packages offer 10% savings on common grade-level pairings.

"Our workshops typically sell out," Samuelson said. "Families who know their child benefits from executive function coaching usually move early. The Early Bird deadline is a signal to decide."

SOS4Students was founded in Walnut Creek in 1995 as Student Organizational Services and rebranded in 2002. For more than 30 years, the practice has helped Bay Area families transform high-achieving students with missing assignments into confident, capable learners. SOS4Students serves students in grades 4 through college with one-on-one executive function coaching, strategic workshops, parent consultations, and educational advocacy support. The team has worked with dozens of local school districts and trained educators at schools across the Bay Area. The practice operates from its primary office in Walnut Creek and a second office in Oakland.

Registration is open at https://sos4students.com/workshops/. Private small-group workshops are also available for families who cannot attend the scheduled dates.
