Wellness professionals can now add frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) to their treatment modalities, thanks to a new comprehensive training program designed by the creators of MEND Technology devices.

-- Frequencies that MEND has expanded its educational offerings with the release of Foundations 1: Frequency Specific Microcurrent, an online course designed to introduce wellness professionals and practitioners to the use of frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) in addressing pain and complex physical conditions.

A representative from Frequencies that MEND explained that interest in non-pharmaceutical approaches to pain management has created greater demand for education in modalities that practitioners can incorporate into their existing practices.

The growing interest in alternatives to conventional pharmaceutical approaches has also brought greater attention to treatments that do not rely on medication. Microcurrent uses very small electrical currents, and Frequencies that MEND describes FSM as an approach based on applying specific frequencies to affect biological tissues.

“Practitioners are increasingly looking for additional approaches they can understand and incorporate into their work,” a company representative explained. “The challenge is finding education that goes beyond a basic introduction and shows practitioners how the modality can be applied in real clinical situations.”

Foundations 1 provides 16 hours of online instruction with 180 days of enrollment. The course begins with an introduction to microcurrent, including the terminology used in FSM and the scientific basis presented for energy medicine, before moving into operation of the MEND technology. Professional device and methods for delivering microcurrent using strips, clips, towels, and sticky pads.

A substantial portion of the course focuses on myofascial pain and the neurological structures that can be involved in pain patterns. Lessons cover the brain, spinal cord, nerves, nerve roots, sacral plexus, and peripheral nerves, along with demonstrations involving neurological evaluation, reflexes, sensory examinations, and treatment setups.

The course also examines how practitioners can identify myofascial pain patterns involving the spine, facet joints, and ligaments.

The training further covers the use of microcurrent frequencies in clinical applications, including trauma and major joints such as the shoulder, hip, and knee. A dedicated section on patient history covers treatment strategy and neurological evaluation, while bonus material addresses precautions, post-concussion syndrome, myofascial pain and dysfunction, and operation of the MEND Wellness unit.

The course is led by Shannon Goossen, AP, LMT, CMTPT, a nationally recognized practitioner and educator specializing in myofascial pain and complex neuropathic pain.
